Grape Varietals: Furmint, Hárslevelű (Linden Leaf)
Situated on a volcanic hill
adjacent to the historical road M37 that traverses northern Hungary,
this picturesque vineyard is comprised of rolling slopes and high
terraces that reach elevations up to 230 meters. Eagles circle overhead
guarding the precious fruit from the multitude of field creatures
that inhabit the hill. Below the terraces, early morning fog from
the nearby Bodrog River creates a white canopy covering the lower
vineyard during the autumn months.

The outstanding quality of
the fruit from Lapis allows Királyudvar to consistently produce
distinctive first-class wines. Rich, nutrient-filled soil flows
down from the higher terraces to the lower areas to provide the
berries for the company's Furmint, Hárslevelű and Aszú wines. With
some of the best exposures on the hill, the middle terraces of Lapis
provide the berries used in Kiralyudvar's signature single-vineyard
Lapis Aszu dessert wine. The focused expression of the Lapis terroir
remains consistent across these wines; wet stone in the nose, a
muscular structure and steely minerality in the finish.
