Henye's reputation as a Hungarian
grand-cru vineyard dates back to 18th century when the property
was owned by the Imperial Hapsburg family. Easily recognized for
powerful aromas of orange blossoms and tropical fruits with clean
acidity, wine from Henye can reach exceptional levels in any given
year.
The legendary vineyard uniformly
covers the hillside separating Tarcal and Bodrogkeresztúr while
basking in the warmth of the summer sun from its angled Southern
exposures. Late autumn morning fogs from the nearby Bodrog River
roll over the fields helping to propagate the onset of botrytis
on the skin of the berries. In Henye, the Aszú berries typically
require additional time to fully develop and are hand-harvested
towards the end of the picking season in November.
