In
Tokaj, Esszencia is universally revered as the nectar of the wine gods. An extraordinary
rarity for enjoyment during the most special of occasions, the Királyudvar
Esszencia is a revelation not so much in its decadent richness as in its cohesive
intensity. Incredibly, this powerful
nectar reaches natural residual sugar levels up to 600 grams per liter with alcohol
levels at less than 5%. At these astonishing levels, it is even more remarkable
that the wine expresses its body and soul together in perfect harmony.
Each Aszú berry in
its pristine form, fully affected by botrytis cinerea, is carefully
harvested by hand from our most special vineyard sites. These select
berries are gently placed into stainless steel containers, where
they remain untouched for weeks. In this unique process, no manual
pressing is required as the natural weight of the saturated berries
produces a small quantity of nectar from each container. This precious
Esszencia nectar is collected in small glass demijohns and cared
for in our private cellars for a minimum of five years of further
aging.
