notes: Towards the end of
1999, a cold December midwinter surprise created the perfect conditions to craft
a natural traditional Tokaji Eiswein. An extended freeze with consistent temperatures
ranging between negative 10° to 13° Celsius allowed for a limited selection of
frozen Aszú berries to be handpicked in the deep snows atop our Lapis terraces
on the 23rd of December. By
slowly pressing the frozen dehydrated berries, the frozen water crystals remain
in the press while the concentrated sugars and acids of the must are separately
extracted. The wine is then fermented over several months in small oak barrels.
The resulting Eiswein is full-bodied and displays intense exotic and tropical
fruit flavors. Production:
